Been a whiiiiiiiile since I updated this thing, so i figure its about time. Since my last post, I've had an art show (on display for one more week), made 5 skate videos, finished 8 new art pieces, produced another song, and a whole bunch of other rad stuff in these last couple of months. So uhhhhhh yea lets get started... ART. These dudes are actually second-version pieces of previous works that I've sold. Some nice person liked them so much that she wanted me to do them over so that she could have them. I happily obliged. This one is for me and my honey. We just had our one year anniversary so I dotted her this. (She's the giraffe). This one was part of a "Hobo Series" that I originally made in photoshop for Nomadic. That's me in the boat going down the canals of Amsterdam. They were gonna print the digital one on the bottom of a deck but never got around to it. This is the current board that I'm riding. Yes, this is an eagle. Yes that is Mt. Rainer. You can actually see me skating these boards in the videos below. The eagles head board is featured pretty well in the Renton Edit. This is a Blue Grouse. I made this one for the local bar near my house, called the Blu Grouse. They have always been really really awesome so I felt like I should make this in appreciation of their radness. Aaaaaand this one is for the best pizza spot in White Center. This place is awesome!!! My work is still up there, and will be for only ONE MORRRREEEE WEEEEKKK!!!!! So go get some pizza and peep it. When I got there, I had no idea that I had so much work! It really surprised me when I laid it all out like this. Alllllll righty then thats about it for art. Let's move on to what I love most. SKATEBOARDING!!! These are still frames of a super fun night at Renton Skatepark. IT WAS SOOOOO COLD. A couple of weeks later, a Mukilteo kid named Jack filmed some fun on the Muk miniramp and took a few photos. Check it out! You can click the photo to make it bigger. A few days later, I was going through some unused footage that I had on my computer, and I saw that I aaalllllmooost have enough footage to make a full part!!! So I made a preview with it. Chickadee checkskis. A few weekends ago, I was skating with my buddy Justin at Beacon. He has a gopro so we filmed some stuffs. Heres one of the still frames that I thought looked rad because of the sun between my foot and my board. I took all the footy Justin sent me and made a promo for casual. It goes like this.... Earlier this week I found a hard drive that was FULL of old Nomadic footy as well as some gems that never got used for anything. So that's it for skating in the last couple of months. If your still reading this far, thank you so much for stickin around. Only one more thing to go! And, of course that would be... TUUUUUUUUUUNNNNEEESSSS!!!! Been a while since I out a track, but I was home and had some free time so I made this: Ok thats all. Thanks for tuning in! I'll be back with more very soon :)
-J Just a few thangs this time around. Got a toad with a lorgnette, a new edit of some old entertaining dorky footage to some funky jams, plus some stencil work I did a while back... Aaaaannnnd heres the clip... Aaaaaaannnnddd heres some photos of some stencil work that I did a while back that I just found this morning... Aaaaaannnnnndddd thats about it.
Thanks for stopping by! Until next time.... -J Just a few more art thangs, some skate photos, and a couple instavids from an amazing trip to Sweden. This is a christmas present that I made for a friend named Robin, the Star-Wars-loving brother of my wonderful girlfriend Kim. I got to meet their whole family over the holidays and had a whole lot of fun. Everyone I met was super rad and welcoming. I had such a great time. Within the first 10 minutes that I met Kim's sister Wiveca, she had showed a HUGE fondness for Despicable Me's "Minions", so I made her this: It was such a incredible trip! I got to see some reeeeally cool stuff like... This is where the KING OF SWEDEN lives. Whoa. They also have so many skateparks, we had trouble deciding which ones to go to. We ended up only having time to go to one, but man it sure was fun! It was under a bridge just like my favorite skatepark, Marginal Way. We even iPhone filmed a bit. SO FUN. I feel so fortunate to be able to spend the holidays on the other side of the planet, and that I got to experience so much while I was over there. If you want to see more photos from the trip, check out my Instafeed at: www.instagram.com/singlerstagram In older news, before I left for Sweden I made this: It's the second piece of the "Intelligent Animals" series. The first one was the octopus in the last blog post. About a month ago, a friend of mine named Justin Carney came to the Mukilteo YMCA skatepark and had his gopro with him. We had a lot of fun buddy-filming for a bit before he had to leave, and just a few days ago he sent me some of the clips. I brought them into Premiere, found a cool song, and made this: 'twas a grand ol time. See the griptape under my feet? Check it out: This'll be rad once I skate and dot the other two pieces to make this complete. I also received some more photos from the session that I had at Judkins skatepark, in Seattle. These were taken by Daniel Hager, who operates under the name 36 Frames Photography when it comes to these things... Alright y'all that's about it for now. Thank's for checkin in, and have a wonderful new year!!!!
J I was flippin through one of my old sketchbooks and found something similar to this, so a few nights ago I dotted it. I also got a handful of new photos and videos to share too. This one was from an evening at Judkins skatepark. We got there pretty late, but still managed to stack a few clips before the sun went down. About a week later, me and my buddies Ben and Sawyer went to Beacon hill skatepark around 10pm. It was about 10:25 when I asked Sawyer if he wanted to film some bullshit on the spine, he said yes. So we stacked this: That was super fun. I recently grabbed my part from the 2013 Element Skate Camp Staff Video and threw it up on my youtube channel. Ew that sounded gross. Anyways, this is what I was up to this summer: I also found these photos while collecting footy last week. Turns out I have a lot more skate footage than I thought. Get ready for a Singler Super Edit coming soon... These were actually takin about a year ago or so when my buddy made a documentary about me for his film class: Welp, that's about it for now. Thanks for stoppin by and stay tuned for more music, art, and skateboarding coming soon....
-J It's been about four months since I updated this thing so I figured it was about time. Here's some art and stuff that I've done since June. That last one is actually a concrete coffee cup. I've been filmin a fair amount for this video that I'm tryna put out too. Just a few more bangers and it'll be done. Since June, Ive been stackin photos too. Here's most of em... I also got a couple photos in ISSUE TWO OF WICKED WORLD THAT JUST CAME OUT!!!! I'm so hyped on this northwest skate mag and am uber honored to make it on a couple pages. That's Nolan on the cover. Holy Crap right?
Alright y'all that's about it. Thanks for stopping by!
-J Today's the day! I'm leaving Seattle for a few months to teach skateboarding at the Element YMCA Skatecamp just outside of Fresno, CA. I've been looking forward to this for a loooong time. I dont really know what to expect, but I know I'm gonna have a blast. This place is got 4 skateparks in the wilderness next to a lake surrounded by trees taller than anything in West Seattle. Shitllbedope. I'm HYPED. Just look at that half pipe. They also got a mini mega ramp, 2 street courses, a bowl, and another more tranny-friendly park. At least, that's what they had last time I was there... I'll make sure to take lots of photos. Speakinaphotos, here's one that I took of the last Boards I Dotted. Aight I'm out. I gotta pack. Thanks for checkin in. Stay tuned. Much much more coming soon....
-J This time around I got a few more pieces of art as well as a new clip from the Muk made by Jake Menne. Peep game. This is a temple in Cambodia called Ankor Wat that I made for my coworker Savin. Definitely one of the most time consuming pieces that I've ever made. This ones for an awesome little dude that was in the camps that I helped teach in Mukilteo named Logan. He shreds. One down, two to go! In other news, two Saturdays ago I placed 2nd at the Zumiez Best Foot Forward contest at the supermall. So stoked! Especially since I didn't even make finals last year. Also in the skate realm, I got together with my buddy Daniel the other day and shot a boneless 360 tucknee into a hill bomb near ballard. It looked like this. And lastly, here's the Muk clip that Jake and I have been working on. Thanks for stopping by!!! More to come very soon...
-J Allllllrightchall this time around I got a new song I made, a new video I put together, a skate photo, and a few pieces of art that I completed to unload soooooooo....here. This ones my current skateboard, so I dotted the griptape to show the reflection of the Seattle skyline in some aviators of someone standing at the end of a Ferryboat. Okok it me. My job brought me to Bambridge Island last week and I had to shoot a flick of our filthy city. I put it in the reflection of some aviators because of what I did on the last board that I skated... This ones my last skateboard. It's a field in Marceille reflected in my sunglasses referenced from this photo that I took to France a few years ago.. I've been wanting to do an aviator series for a while now because of this photo, and I can't wait till I produce a quadrillion more. Maybe Ill have a whole show devoted to reflections? iono. Ill figure something out. Anyways, my Mom had a birthday in early April, and she LOVES horses, so I made her this. I didn't really like how corny it turned out, but she loved it :) HANYWAYS on the skateboarding front, here's a little fun clip that me, Akash, Pavel, and Arron GoProed on a trip down to Portland. I got a hold of the footy and made this. We were supposed to go down with 2 filmers but they both bailed. Then the back up filmer bailed. Oh well, it was still super fun. I have been filmin a lot around Seattle though, so that's good. I really want to come out with a BANGIN street clip before I leave for Cali in June, and have been chompin at the bit with it. Here's something that I pulled off just goofin around about 2 weeks ago that me buddy Zay instagramed without me knowing it. I LOVE ME SOME HANNAS. Haha. Anyways, I think that's about it for now. Imma leave y'all with a little song I made one night about a week ago after watching "Louie", that awesome show about Louis CK. Thanks for stoppin by, and stay tuned. I got a lot of rad news this time around. New art shows, skate clips, articles, sponsors, contests, and a new job! I'm stoked. It's been tough to keep this thing updated while pullin 50 hours a week at my current jobs, but hey I gotta pay rent somehow. First off, peep this flier I made for an art show that I was in, along with a whole bunch of other artists. Yes that is Gilligan's Island Font. Anyways, after I finished it and sent it out, I went to Marginal way and found that someone had printed it out and posted it on one of the pillars! I was way stoked to say the least. The show was a huge success and hella money was made to benefit Marginal Way. Someone bought the board I donated! Heck yes. If you or someone you know are interested in being part of this show, get at me on facebook or shoot me an email and I'll fill you in on the details... I was hyyyyyyped. Speakin of free shit, a week later I got this from Element. Turns out I'm officially sponsored by them now!!! Casual Industries also just put me on. Woo Woo!!! More news about all that coming soon... I can't wait to start working down at the camp down in Fresno in two months!!! It's gonna be soooo sick. In other skateboarding news, I found a whole bunch of Yakama footage from like 2010 on my computer so I made a little clip. Peep. Also in the skateboarding realm, I GOT MY FIRST INTERVIEW IN A MAGAZINE!!!! Check it out on page 16 below. My buddy Jedd Rockwell is the main dude behind all of this. He did such a great job!!! You can find this mag at all of the skate shops in the greater northwest :) Welp, that's about it I think, besides the great news that I'm going to be working for ProMotion Arts as a Video Editor! ProMotion Arts provides award-winning corporate and special event videos, motion graphics, web streaming, and multimedia solutions to clients including Microsoft, Starbucks, Woodland Park Zoo, FareStart, Dorsey & Whitney, and the University of Washington. I'm super stoked for this opportunity, and I cant wait to get started. Not gonna lie I pulled that strait from their facebook.
Thanks for stoppin in and checkin this out yall! Have a wonderful day! -J Tryna get productive on a rainy day after work. Got this kickflip and stacked a couple clips to add to the street edit I'm tryna come out with.
